[size=39]Eirene- the Greek Goddess of Peace[/size]
Eirene, more commonly known in English as Peace, was one of the Horae, the personification of peace. She was depicted in art as a beautiful young woman carrying a cornucopia, sceptre, and a torch or rhyton. She is said sometimes to be the daughter of Zeus and Themis and sister of Dike and Eunomia.
The Greek goddess Eirene, the epitome of peace is also believed to be the bearer of prosperity rather plenty and wealth. Knowing her to be the goddess of peace and bearer of plenty, it is much relatable of her to be the goddess of the spring season.
Mythical stories reveal that this goddess of peace was born to Themis and Zeus. Along with her two sisters Dike and Eunomia, she forms the Horae found at the doors of heaven, more popularly known as ‘the guardians of the gates to Olympus.’ Dike and Eunomia are the goddesses of justice and order respectively, so these Horae goddesses are believed to reside in the most stable societies. This trio is also known as the goddesses of time, rather natural division of time. Owing to her presence at the doors of heaven, Eirene is also known as an ‘entrance ways’ goddess.’
